Clamshell Thoracotomy

This was my thesis for college. While my peers leaned more towards monster-making, I have always had a passion for realism and anatomy. I did in-depth research on a clamshell thoracotomy procedure (which is the most invasive heart surgery you can get). I then sculpted the organs and the fatty tissue/sternum/ribs and molded them in stone and fiberglass and cast them in high-grade silicone. My hope was to one day animate the organs.
